inSpectrum
A mobile app design that calculates the most personalized UV data through smart adornments like smartwatches.
Design Direction
While at the inSpectrum project, I primarily worked as the UX designer for this project closely in every step with my team from brainstorming, user research, data analyzing process, user flow creation, wireframing, prototyping, user testing, and iteration process.
Problem and Solution
"inSpectrum" is specially created because most researches and interviews show that there is a lack of awareness of UV and how damaging it could be to a person. According to our research data, we found there is an issue with the availability of personalized UV-based data and understandable issues on available information about this situation and what kind of things people need to protect themselves from harmful UV rays and reduce future health risks such as Melanoma and a large variety of skin cancers.
So we personalized comprehensive data in easily understandable ways and personalized protections from the scratch in a smart way.
Research
Our Team Conducted 5 interviews with people who do more outdoor activities to get a basic idea about How long they spend outside, and what prevention methods people use to protect themselves from harmful UV rays. Same time we conducted social media survey to get more data about UV-related concerns people have.
When reflecting on our survey data, we realized we needed an app that would provide users with helpful personalized health advice, water consumption, and personalized skin applications. While giving them a simple yet visually engaging system, that would allow them to put reminders, medical issues, and family health history and get medical advice throughout their outdoor activities.

User Flow
Wireframe Sketching
We explored several layout adjustments to improve great features for providing user friendliness and beneficial feedback. We then got to work on some explorations for updating the UI patterns and overall look and feel of the product.
Userbility testings and iterations
Usability Testings were conducted with five participants and Users were given main three tasks, "Registration and allow GPS, Create a profile and go through the onboarding questions, add the smart devices as this app is smart devices compatible", to identify if there are any iterations to do on the final design. According to our observations, our users were struggling with a few steps that we felt we need to iterate on the final design.
